A warm welcome awaited us on our arrival at the beautiful house of the Keys. The home itself is a true reflection of its owners’ hospitality and kindness. By combining architecture and their own unique style the Keys have created a sense of Cape Town living where subtle luxury and design form an inviting unity, enhanced by the owners’ down to earth attitude.
The moment you enter through the pivoted imposing Moroccan blue front door your attention gets drawn to the “Blue Crust” aggregate in the white polished concrete Terra Floor. The strong blue colour of the door is beautifully supported and reflected by the aggregate.
The Key’s daughter, an architect herself, was tasked with the renovation of their home – and she excelled. Strongly supported by it’s superb location overlooking Cape Town and the harbour she did an excellent job in making the best of a fantastic panoramic view of the Mother City. The clean feeling rendered by the white Terra Floor supported by wide sliding doors, further enhances free flow in their social area.
The dining room boasts a feature wall with Stucco Italiano Tadelakt wall plaster in our Meknes finish. This particular finish, in combination with a virtually uninterrupted view and beautiful art charms you with a subtle, yet unforgettable visual experience.
The handmade concrete tiles create a refreshing twist on the stoep area which was plastered with the colour Moonrock from the Stucco Italiano Floor Plaster range. The Keys fell in love with the ‘Diamond Border’ design from the tile range and chose it to serve as the joints on the stoep floor.
It’s always a joy to experience a home with a great heart and soul such as House Key – even more so when it is a beautifully executed combination of design, passion and creative ideas. This is indeed a place of which one can say: “Home is where the heart is”.
